Siri Hustvedt is a novelist who also writes scientific papers about the brain. She’s 62 years old, she’s not active on Twitter — but she has plenty of experience being demeaned in public, including on stage, as a keynote speaker, and even while getting an honorary doctorate. She told Steve Paulson she empathizes with young women who are trying to develop their voices on new and noisy platforms — women who, at the same time, must cope with old-fashioned, garden-variety misogyny and sexism.
