After Jamaican writer Marlon James won the Booker Prize for his novel about the attempted assassination of Bob Marley, he went in a completely different direction — into the world of African witches and demons, tricksters and shapeshifters. His "Dark Star Trilogy" has been called the African "Game of Thrones." James recounts how he created this fantasy series by uncovering characters from old African myths and folklore.
