Neil Gaiman's classic "Sandman" graphic novel is now a big budget Netflix series. It’s the latest in a long line of Gaiman fantasy stories that have been adapted for the screen, including “Stardust,” “American Gods,” and “Coraline.” Gaiman has made a career out of tapping into our unconscious dreams and fears, and turning them into gripping stories. In 2003, Steve Paulson traveled to western Wisconsin, where this transplanted Englishman was living at the time, to talk with Gaiman about where the ideas for his stories come from.
