Rediscovering the Indigenous City of Addis Ababa

Literary scholar Dagmawi Woubshet and artist Julie Mehretu were both born in Addis Ababa, and then moved to America. Whenever they return, they marvel at how fast the city’s changing, and wonder what it will mean for the city's unique character — one rooted in Ethiopia's history as the only African nation never to be colonized.
